I said, "God, I hurt."
And God said, I know."
I said, "God, I cry a lot."
And God said, "That is why I gave you tears."
I said, "God, I am so depressed."
And God said, "That is why I gave you Sunshine."
I said, "God, life is so hard."
And God said, "That is why I gave you loved ones."
I said, "God, my loved one died."
And God said, "So did mine."
I said, "God, it is such a loss."
And God said, I saw mine nailed to a cross."
I said, "God, but your loved one lives."
And God said, "So does yours."
I said, "God, where are they now?"
And God said, "Mine is on My right and yours is in the Light."
I said, "God, it hurts."
And God said, I know."

This is very beautiful--I was deeply touched by it. Thank you.
Good morning, booklady :)
I, like Sr. Marie, was touched by this also, the message and the image together.
Can I include something of the past here?
Below is a link to a post at the 'Holy Cards For Your Inspiration' site with a similar image I reacted strongly to and wrote about in a post called 'Men.' The image can no longer be enlarged by clicking on it, but if you use the internet toolbar zoom feature you can enlarge your screen itself enough to see the expression on Jesus' face - which is what inspired me along with the fact that he was hugging a man.

My post called 'Men' is too long to include here. But below are a couple of key thoughts from it.
"Look closely at this hug. It is a response to something innate and fundamental and simple as opposed to something evolved or trifling or complicated. It is a hug on the edge. Simple, raw, uncompromising. Full. It pushes boundaries. And look at the gaze of Jesus on our Father, intensely and in earnest. On earth, Jesus only has physical form in His people. Whoever we are, maybe He would like us to be alert to such need and then hold in this way, those in our lives who are in need, whoever they are, especially if they are alone. A silent and full and prayerful hug, beseeching our Lord on their behalf."
Life does indeed hurt sometimes, as your excerpt says, and He does indeed know well and He can and has already helped if we but call on Him. Also, as His eyes and arms here on earth, we are called to help Him help.
Thank you Sr. Ann Marie ... for your kind comment and for stopping by!
aspiring,
You can always share your writing! You see deeply into things my friend and I appreciate that. I checked out the post you linked too and I love that picture too. My eyes are always hungry for pictures of Jesus.
I love what you wrote here, '... maybe He would like us to be alert to such need and then hold in this way, those in our lives who are in need, whoever they are, especially if they are alone.'
Yes! I'm sure He would!
Wow! Thank you for sharing this, it is so moving!
Very moving post, thanks for sharing.
God Bless you, and all those who are hurting!
Wow, this is so incredible in so many ways. Tears filled my eyes as I read it, then when I read where it was posted a feeling much like a hand gripped my heart.....
No more words.
Anne, Michael and Daily Grace,
You were each touched by the words as I was. It was only one of the many beautiful things I discovered last week during my Adoration research. Interesting because I've been to the Bombing Memorial several times and I'd never read that plaque on the wall before. Guess maybe we should have done the official tour. Next time I go I'll be sure to look for it however.
Thank you Booklady for posting this.
God bless you.
